Anna's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Sweet with chocolate chips and brown sugar, these crispy edged Chocolate Chip Cookies will melt any heart on Valentine's Day or any day of the year.

I have several Chocolate Chip cookie recipes on my blog.  You can see them here, here and here and a bar cookie here.  And now here's another great Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe.  I've been making this recipe for several years and the cookies always turn out wonderful.  The original recipe is on All Recipes and has over 1400 reviews and most of them, 1006, are five stars reviews (at the date of this writing).  I would also give these a 5-star rating, especially since you can control the texture of the cookies by the baking time (as you can in many cookies).   If you like a gooey centre in your chocolate chip cookie, bake for 8 minutes and for a more cake-like texture bake the full 10 minutes. (I know this because I was forced to eat at least 4 cookies to test this theory.)  I don't know who Anna is but she sure makes good cookies!

I tried to make a few heart shaped cookies because as you can see from the date it's đŸ’–Valentine's DayđŸ’–.  Poor little lopsided hearts they were but tasted so good.  (And aren't most hearts a little lopsided?) I'm expecting a car-load of special people for supper and, as I'm not up to making a full-blown dessert today, I'm sure these cookies will go over in a big way and probably more appreciated by the kids (big and smallđŸ‘¦đŸ‘§đŸ‘¨) than something more complicated.  Sometimes less is more. đŸ˜‹

Printable recipe at end of post.
Anna’s Chocolate Chip Cookies
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 2½ cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoons salt
  • 1½-2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
How to make it:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  Use ungreased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets.

In a large bowl, cream together the butter and both  sugars until smooth.  Beat in the vanilla and eggs one at a time.  Sift or combine the flour, baking soda and salt and mix into the creamed mixture.  If you find the mixture too heavy for a hand mixer, stir the flour in by hand. Lastly, mix in the chocolate chips.  Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.  Bake 8 minutes for a more gooey centre.  Bake the full 10 minutes for a more cake-like texture. Remove from baking sheet to cool on wire racks.

Makes 3-3½ dozen cookies.

When the flour has been stirred in, mix in the chocolate chips.

Drop by tablespoonfuls onto ungreased or parchment paper lined cookie sheets.

If you don't like puffy, rounded cookies you can flatten them just a little with the heel of you hand just before baking.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are golden.

The cookie on the right was lightly flattened out before baking.

A plate of warm Chocolate Chip Cookies are crying out for a tall glass of milk or cup of tea.

 Here's my portion!

Sweet with chocolate and brown sugar, these crispy edged Chocolate Chip Cookies will become a family favourite!
