Non-Alcoholic Banana Pineapple Slush (Frozen Punch)

A hand holding a glass of Non-Alcoholic Banana Pineapple Slush (Frozen Punch) mixed with 7-Up.

Banana Pineapple Slush is a delicious non-alcoholic frosty, fruity, fizzy sweet drink for both kids and adults. Makes a great fruit punch for all your celebrations.

Slush is a very popular drink during the holiday season or for that matter any celebration. Most Slush recipes contain alcohol so it isn't suitable for non-drinkers or children who would also like a special drink at a party.  None of my immediate family drinks alcohol and many of my friends do not drink alcohol, either. But we do like frosty, fruity, fizzy sweet drinks during celebrations so I make a lovely non-alcoholic frozen punch that we love. Everyone likes it including some of our alcohol drinking relatives and friends. We've certainly been enjoying it over the Christmas holidays.

This punch is so refreshing with the tropical juices and the fizz from the soda. Don't keep it only for the cold season holidays. Enjoy it year round especially on those hot summer days.

Non-Alcoholic Banana Pineapple Slush
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 2½ cups sugar
  • Juice of 3 lemons or 6 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 3 mashed bananas
  • 2 litres (quarts) ginger ale or lemon lime soda
How to make it:
Dissolve sugar in boiling water. Once the sugar is dissolved mix in the lemon, orange and pineapple juices as well as the banana mash. Mix well then freeze mixture in a plastic tub or container.  Freeze overnight or until frozen through.

As there is no alcohol in the mix to keep it from freezing solid you will need to take the frozen punch from the freezer shortly before using to let it thaw a little. Once it starts to thaw it is easy to scrape the punch with a spoon or fork. If I have room, I find my refrigerator freezer is the best place to keep the punch as it does not freeze as cold as a chest or upright freezer.

To serve fill drinking glass about ⅓-½ full with the frozen punch and pour in ginger ale or lemon lime soda (like 7-Up or Sprite) to fill to the top. Gently stir with a spoon until you have a slushy mixture. Alternately, place the frozen mixture in a punch bowl and add the ginger ale while breaking up the icy punch. Add as much ginger ale or lemon lime soda to taste.

Makes 8-9 cups frozen punch mix before adding soda.

It takes just minutes to put this frozen punch together. If you can afford it, use orange juice not made from concentrate for a better flavour.

Pour the sugar in the 3 cups of boiling water.

Dissolve sugar in boiling water.

Once the sugar is dissolved mix in the lemon, orange and pineapple juices as well as the banana mash.

Mix well then freeze mixture in a plastic tub or container.  Freeze overnight or until frozen through.
